GrowFX 2.0 User Manual

Introduction

GrowFX is a plugin for 3ds Max, allowing to create any kind of plants, and other objects of vegetable similarity.

GrowFX has a node editor that allows you to compose any components (nodes) that perform various functions for building plants.

You can connect the corresponding nodes (Affect, Math, Random, etc.) to any nodes parameters to change the parameter value depending on various conditions. This allows you to customize any behavior of any part of the plant. For more information, see How to configure dependencies.

You can also output any parameter on the GrowFX command panel so that you can animate this parameter, or so that any user of your plants can change this parameter. To do this, you just need to create a Public node for this parameter. For more information, see How to use the Public parameter node.

For convenience, the node editor allows you to group nodes to simplify the graph of nodes. For more info, please see How to group nodes.

GrowFX allows you to cache the finished mesh on the disk as multiple files for each animation frame. While recording the cache, each frame is calculated in a separate thread, which allows you to prepare your plant animation much faster.
