Eduard
Hi Everyone, GrowFX 1.9.7 has been released. What's new: Added full compatibility with 3ds Max 2015 and 3ds Max Design 2015 (64-bit); Improved viewport performance in 3ds Max 2015; Added a new parameters group called Alarm limits to the Preference parameters. By setting these parameters, you can be sure that your model will not cause a memory overflow; Some minor improvements and bugfixes. How the Alarm limits settings works: This settings controls the basic limits for critical algorithms... Path segs limit Specifies the maximum number of segments for the paths lines, while editing the Length path or Steps on the Direction modifiers rollout. Density limit Specifies the maximum number of distributed lines, while editing the Density parameter in the Path distributor. Distr count limit Specifies the maximum number of distributed lines, while editing the Count parameter in the Distributor in point rollout of some distributor. Mesh segs limit Specifies the maximum number of faces around the circle for the Cylinder mesh. Also specifies the maximum number of faces on the leaf width for the Leaves mesh. Meta verts limit Specifies the maximum number of vertices during the build Meta meshes. If some values exceed the specified limits, the system will display a message recommending change some settings to solve the problem. After that will be automatically enabled the Manual update mode. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. Thanks!
HHbomb
Looks like a very nice update !!! Installed on 3dsmax2015, seems very responsive and stable. (just play a single hour) Thanks.
Lantrancy
not stable, get lots of crash when play around with graphs, 1.9.6 is way more stable than this, please fix

Lantrancy
Please send us your model, as well as give us more information that leads to a crash? We'll investigate and fix it. Thanks! Hi, to reproduce crash you dont need a model, just create a new simple tree with 2 path, open a graph like density graph, adjust points, drag tangent, type in a value, things like this, and suddently growfx will stop respond to value change of a point, then it will crash. I do this 3 times and all get crashed, I have tried to reinstall but not help. rollback to 1.9.6 solved this problem. I'm using 3dsmax 2014 64bit I link a file here in case you need it (dont know how to post attachment here) crash.max https://mega.co.nz/#!m0gRgQTQ!8jTzvJq5g2nIOIpjIYMsiDFZktfMQvXhHAJPXo6YNnQ I crashed 2 times in this file, just play around with the density graph curve of path2, do add some points, I'm not sure when it will crash but eventually it will, seems randomly happen

I have added a lot of points, and also changed thier positions, and no crashes happened... Now for a future version, we have changed the Path distributor algorithm and removed SubDivs parameter in the Preference parameters rollout. If you want to test it with the new version, please contact me by email and I'll send you an update... Thanks!

I have emailed you for testing the update, also I notice this problem, it shows up beforce 3dsmax crash, here is a gif I recored, the curve move like crazy, after then max crashed. https://mega.co.nz/#!r04jFZrT!f3iPBCa3k7wId_gs9Dep_NwZME1hBVDUcFyu-L1NPt8

I'll send this gif file to Autodesk support, because such graph behavior, due to internal working of 3dsMax. Thanks!
austingrd
Alarm Limits was one of the useful features added here! Thank you.
simplychen
Eduard, This can probably be placed in the troubleshoot section of the forum, but since it has been brought up here...Have you heard back from Autodesk regarding the peculiar behavior with the graph prior to the crash? I am experiencing the same problem in Max 2014; but, I am not sure if it can be contributed to not having updated to SP5. Any thoughts? Most likely it's a bug in GrowFX, now we are trying again to find and fix this bug... I'll let you know here when we fix it. Thanks!

LightSyndrome
Hi Eduard ....'m using this great plug. But I have the same problem .. curves lost all control. This point and move away out of control ... lose the proportions of the movement .... then it crashes. It happens on two different systems. The first 3d max design 2015. Second 3d max 2015. Any version that does not have this problem? ... greetings.
ptrain03
Hi LightSyndrome I have run across this problem before. I think it ended up being a problem with the Graph Controllers on 3ds Max's end. I was able to get it to stop by re-starting Max. I don't really know a better way. It seems like I haven't run into this in a while though. Hope it helps ! Paul
Eduard
Hi LightSyndrome, We've not yet found a bug, but it seems version 1.9.6 works fine. Nevertheless, we didn't change anything for the graph controller in this version. Apparently something else is the cause of this behavior graph. We're now waiting some tips from Autodesk, I'll let you know here if we'll fix this bug... Thanks!
LightSyndrome
Hi all.... thanks for the replies. Hopefully you can resolve. It becomes very difficult to work with the error. Also crashes if I move much the curve.
Eduard
Hi all, We've fixed bugs related with the Graph Controllers, and we'll release an update soon... Thanks so much to everyone who helped find these bugs! Cheers
