You could accomplish this by making the paths individually and adjusting their density based on path position. do you have any pictures of what you are trying to model? there might be another way to do it. I think that use an Affect on the Levels is only suitable for static plants, but for the growth animation is better to use an Affect on the Length of the branches... Cheers!
