But if you create a separate path for the leaves, it is best to affect from the branches length to the leaves length, then from leaves length to the scale of the leaf. See my example and screenshots... Also don't forget to set the From parameter range values, it allows you to control the growth of the leaves. That is, this parameters allows you to specify the range of the branches length, in which the leaves are fully grown. The Affects process seems complicated at first but it just takes a couple of times to understand it. In the end it's as simple as one parameter affecting another, it doesn't matter which parameter affects which other parameter, the process is still the same.
