Orthopteroid
I'm not a typical Archviz user. I make often-psychedelic science fiction art for the entertainment and music industry. I'm not so interested in plant realism, but I want to create weird, unearthly growths. It is important that I have an efficient way to attach custom instanced geometry to my plants (complex leaves, fruits). I would really like the ability to extract JUST the base splines from the plants, so that I can scatter along them with a different 3DS Max plugin, rather than meshing them into branches/trunks. Finally, I want to quickly be able to generate more "mathematical/fractal" looking plants like 3D versions of this, this and this. A tool that can grow coral-like shapes. I like node-based tools, which is why this one interests me. I just worry that it might be limiting if it has been optimized for "realism." If it's not, is there enough tutorial support to get up and running quickly with that kind of thing? And is there anything potentially better? Thanks. Eduard
Hi Orthopteroid, Yes of course you can create such plants. You just need to adjust some angles to get such a fractal. Also use Levels value in the Distributors to get the desired fractal depth. Read our documentation to understand how GrowFX works. 8 hours ago, Orthopteroid said: I would really like the ability to extract JUST the base splines from the plants, so that I can scatter along them with a different 3DS Max plugin, rather than meshing them into branches/trunks. You can also convert a GrowFX object to the spline. Thanks!
