  2. Hi We´ve recently purchased Growfx and we are very satisfied with the results so far. But there´s a problem we´ve encountered and can´t seem to find the solution. Sometimes with some wind animated looped trees there seems to be a bug/problem with the mesh, like the tree itself explodes, imagine if you apply a noise modifier and every vertex goes to a random position suddenly. This obviously makes that frame no usable but also the render times sky rocket. The workflow we are using is exporting the looped trees to Vray Proxy. Anybody knows how to solve this? or maybe had the same problem? Have a look at the attached frame. Thanks in advance.
  3. I spent a lot of time and power helping to develop and test GrowFX 2 - it's a completely new version with Node Based Workflow and new amazing features! GrowFX 2 is a very powerful plugin for modeling and animating plants and offers you unlimited creative freedom. Let me introduce new assets I made especially for showing the CG community new GrowFX 2 features. This is an animated 3d model of Magical Beanstalk from fairy tales. You can randomise it, add growth and wind animation, tweak any parameter such as length, width, thickness, LODs etc. Magical Beanstalk growth along the target spline and you can tweak this spline and even animate it. More details in the presentation and workflow videos I made for you. You can use Magical Beanstalk in your visualizations, advertisements, TV, games and so on. 6. Is it possible in Growfx 2.0 to control wind's effect based on height or even path position? Essentially I'd like to reproduce the real-world effect in which wind is stronger at the top of a tree than at the bottom. Currently my tree's leaves and branches move at a uniform intensity throughout. There are inputs by most of the parameters within the Wind Modifier node, but I couldn't find any documentation explaining what they control.
  7. Dear all GrowFX people, Whats the best and optimized way of making plant animations looped and ready for rendering workflow using Octane or Vray. Thanks.
  8. Hey all, is it possible to apply a wind animation to a grass mesh that I've already built? If so, are there any tutorials on how this can be accomplished? I'm new to growFX so I'm not quite sure where to start. Thanks!
  9. Hi Eduard, Have just purchased GrowFx this week for a huge project due soon and am getting crazy results in vray next using vray proxy with point cache & Max 2020 My workflow (with Maxtree libraries) is: 1.) Optimise trees down to around 250k polys (reducing leaf density, swapping metameshes to cylinders, optimizing faces and increasing steps on branches) 2.) Add wind modifiers to aftermesh 3.) Record animation with point cache (100 frames) 4.) remove point cache, convert growfx to mesh then to vray proxy mesh 6.) Paste point cache back on the VrMesh In the attached video you can see the issues when rendering. Its far better when doing a viewport render, but still has the odd branch disappearing Do you have any idea why this happening? The library scene render also has far fewer issues than the project scene render. The only changes in the project scene are proxy rotation & scale. They are all instanced in there. I have to use proxies and point cache to keep the scene manageable. I still need to add a few more shrub and tree types to this scene but after my first overnight test render, I'm hesitant to keep going with this workflow with such unpredictable results. Cheers. 10. I created a plant and 'wind animated' it in SP7. But recently I installed SP8 and there's a new feature Amplitude Multiplier (Which is cool BTW) but I forgot that it would affect my animation because it has a default value set already which changes my animation to something different. Now I have many plants and trees created in the older version. Is there any way I can disable the Amplitude Multiplier effect in those? or Do I have to set its value manually to something (zero I guess?) to get my old animation back? Thank you!
  11. Hi All! I'm having trouble creating a realistic looking wind loop. The aim is to have a nice gentle breeze rustling the leaves and a little bit of sway in branches, but I cant find the right balance of flexibly, stiffness and wind speed. I'm using a 200 frame loop to keep my animated proxy files to a reasonable size. This means I cant use Perturb Speed or Vector Can some one please advise "weather' its better to have: High wind speed with low flexibility and high stiffness Or Low wind speeds with lower stiffness and high flexibility See images and videos for more detail. Image 1 Wind Speed 0cm: I want to have this form swaying gently Image 2 Wind Speed 50cm: Tree form is ok but not great and wind is very subtle. Even with very slow camera movement it will be barley visible in an animation (see video below) Image 3 Wind Speed 100cm: Tree looks like its in a hurricane but only moving slowly (see video below) Max 2014 file attached. Thanks in advance! Wind_help_gfx.zip
  12. Hi Is it possible to animate grass or plants that are not created using the GrowFX? For example, if I create some grass using ForestPack library and try to animate it using the GrowFX wind, will it work or everything has to be generated using GrowFX?
  13. Hi All, Here is a little animation test of the WIND Feature in GrowFX. Hope this inspires other to have a look at using wind if they haven't already https://vimeo.com/116459617 Cheers Jamie 3DMK - Treeline
  14. Heya Folks! I've got a job with lots of growfx trees that have lots of paths in them. Is it possible to get maxscript access to the wind object "pick" button so that I can loop through all the trees and branches and set a single wind? In future it'd be great to have some kind of spreadsheet editor to be able to mass add modifiers and change their parameters - on more complex trees the display update can be a bit slow when changing between them all! Cheers! John
  15. Hi All, Has anyone else encountered a problem where the identified period of a loop is not the actual looping point? I have been scratching my head over this for a few days and gotten to the point where I think the stiffness value is having something done to it before it is fed into the equation. I have already worked back to the equation that generates the displayed period (which I then found in a forum post).. Leaving other variables at 1 for simplicity, I'm finding that changing the stiffness value results in loops as below: Stiffness Period Actual Period 0.5 5 ~15 (give or take a few ticks) 1 10 30 2 20 ~32 3 30 ~39 4 40 50 5 50 ~58 6 60 ~68 And so on. I've found there is a decreasing value which approaches 1 as the stiffness value increases. But that's about where my ability to pull this apart ends. The difference factor I have found does plot a pretty neat curve [3, 1.6666, 1.3333, 1.25, 1.17, 1.141667], but I can't quite bring it into something I can use to predict the actual period. If there's any suggestions out there, I'm all ears. (incidentally, GrowFX version: 1.9.9 sp2) Kind Regards,
  16. Hey guys, Just wondering what the difference between the two wind modifiers is. One is available in the direction modifiers, the other in the after mesh modifiers; I realise there is no difference in the GUI/settings between the two but are they meant for different workflows? Are there any advantages/disadvantages of using one over the other? Thanks in advance, Chris
  17. First off, GrowFX is an amazing. We are very pleased with the purchase. We are starting to work on an animation that involves around 25 high poly trees animating in the wind. The trees have been created with very realistic wind parameters. Now it's just a matter of managing the file so that 25 of them can be moving at the same time. What method would you recommend using? I'm pretty new to using proxies so a detailed explanation of the work flow or tutorial would be awesome. Thank you!
  18. Hi, I'm trying to come up with a solution to create a treeline, with very subtle but noticeable animation. I'm under quite tight time constraints, so i'm debating if this is achievable in a short time frame with GrowFX. is it possible to batch convert a group of animated growfx trees to vray proxy? (takes too long to individually create proxies for each tree in the treeline) be good to get any thoughts on this thanks
