Hello everyone! I'm kindda newbie here. I just happened to buy a license for GrowFx. In the next month I will be upgrading my workstation and thus re-installing windows and 3ds max. My question it's if I will lose my license by uninstalling everything.

Hello everyone!, I'm kinnda newbie within GrowFx and I still wasn't able to found any tutorial about texturing. More importantly for me would be if Growfx has any special options as to how unwrapp or mapping. I intend to work with substance designer so it would be nice to, to know if there's any special workflow.

Hey there. I have just started using Grow FX and have applied some wind-animation to a tree. Now I want to make a mesh of this tree. Is it possible to collapse the grow fx object to a mesh with animation? Or is the any other workarounds for this? I cant find any info on this on the forum or in the user manual. I am using latest version of Grow FX and 3ds max 2014. In advance, thanks for the help.

Hi, I want to create some GFX plants to use with Forest Pack on vertical green walls. According to the tutorial below, I need to align the plants z-axis perpendicular to the wall. Please can someone advise the best way to create a plant like those attached with the pivot point of the GFX object correctly set up? I made a lot of plants for this project with Growfx and then scattered with Forest Pack Pro, For textures I used Megascans and textures.com and render done with Fstorm. Hi Everyone, GrowFX 1.9.9 (Service Pack 6) is now available. What's new: Added full compatibility with 3ds Max 2019 (64-bit); Added a new Shape modifier that allows the user to modify lines of path by control points; Added Use Last Level option in the Path and Path position distributor, which will allow using only the last level of the parent path; Added Path Pos - Min % and Path Pos - Max % parameters in the Instanced geometry, which will allow to control the appearance of the instanced objects along the parent path; Added the ability to affect to the Material ID of the mesh builders; Added the ability to affect to the Displace UVW Mapping parameters of some mesh builders; Added the MaxSctipt functions to access the Cache Mode parameters; Some minor bugs are fixed. Hi guys, I want to create this leaf (sunflower plant) with geometry and not an opacity map. Is it possible with the leaves mesh or do I have to use instanced geometry? So far I have no luck with the leaves mesh - I can't seem to create that indent you see at the start of the leaf. Thanks, Terri

Hi Everyone, GrowFX 1.9.9 (Service Pack 4) is now available. What's new: + Added a Playback Options in the Cache mode settings; + Many bugs are fixed. We also improved the playback of the cache files. For example, if you recorded a tree growth animation from 0 to 300 frames, and you want to start growing from frame 500. To do this, you need set the Start Frame = 500, and before the frame 500 your tree will exist as it was recorded in frame 0, and after frame 800 your tree will exist as it was recorded in frame 300. Also you can record animation frames as you like. For example, you can first record frames from 0 to 100, then record frames from 101 to 200. In this case, the previous frames (0 to 100) will not be deleted. And to combine them, you just need to load any frame, for example, the file tree_000000000.gfxcache, in this case GrowFX will ask: Do you want to open a sequence of files: tree_000000000.gfxcache ... tree_000032000.gfxcache? And if you click Yes, the master file tree.gfxcache will be overwritten, and you can play the animation from 0 to 200 frames. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. Thanks!

Hello! I've recently made a showreel where in some shots growfx was used. Its a great plugin and I'm looking forward to work with it more as soon as I have more computing power to work with heavy detailed trees. In the showreel there is a Airmax tribute animation, where GrowFX was used for all the vegetation including the forests in the background, which I was forced to render separately due to long parsing times (the trees are heavy detailed with the needles and stuff) GrowFX was also used for the trees in the background of the candles shot. Hi! For a growth animation I'm doing, I have an animated Stem that Leaves grow out of. The Stem goes up quite high, and the problem I'm having is that as the Stem continues growing, the position of the leaves changes; the move upwards together with the Stem. It seems like their position is set by a percentage value instead of a set value, so as the Stem grows the leaves sort of travel up along it. Is there a way to get the leaves to stay in the exact position they are created instead of moving up along the Stem as it grows?

What's new: + Added a new option Aligned Local Vector for the Vector Orientation modifier; + Improved the Wind Animation modifier: + Added a new feature Looping animation; + Added a new parameter Strength factor in the Axial rotation group; + Added a new parameter Angle Strength in the Orientation for leaves group; + Added the Invert lines button in the Eraser modifier; + Many bugs are fixed. Some examples and screenshots: The Aligned Local Vector in the Vector Orientation modifier: If use the Local Vector, the result will be as follows: Improved the Wind Animation modifier: The Looping animation feature: For example, the Period = 50, then you can compare the frames 0 and 50, the trunk and branches should be identical. You can also compare for example frames 10 and 60, they should also be the same. Accordingly, for recording cache or proxy, you must use frames 0 ... 49, or 10...59, etc. To change the Period value you can customize the following settings: Stiffness, Scale Frequency, or the Wind Speed in the fan settings. If you changed any value, to fully update the period value click the Update button to recalculate the model, or just move the time slider. To create a looping animation of the tree, you must determine the total period of the loop. For example, it will be 200 frames. Then adjust the wind of the trunk so that its period is equal to 200. For other paths, adjust the period value is equal to a multiple of 200, for example 100, 50, 25, 10, 5, etc. Ie for the branches, Period = 100 or 50, etc. For the leaves, you can set the Period = 10 or 5. Also, please don't use the animation of the wind speed, or other parameters, and don't use the Perturb options in the wind object settings. Please see some examples: SmallTree_WindLoop.max PopulusCanadensis_WindLoop.max Test looped animation: The Eraser modifier: The Invert lines button allows you to invert the list of erased lines. This can be useful if you want to erase all the branches except for a few. Please feel free to ask if you have any questions. Thanks!
