Thanks I am using only few modifiers: almost every branch is using random/vector/noise direction modifiers, sometimes radial direction for leaf stem and when it is necessary object reaction modifier. Often for leaves and twigs and small branches it is essential use vector orientation, but this modifier is better test on extra small example, because it is sometimes hard to tell on bigger plant if you set the parameters X/Y orientation correct or not :)) . I was learning only from tutorials from exlevel page. After 2 or 3 plants it was quite easy to create any plant. 50% of success is to have good reference, photos, measurements, or real plant. Rest is about setting parameters and do some work in photoshop (extracting leaves from photos, make color wariations, normalmaps, make bark texture non repeating, ...). For bigger project I reworked my plants to use with forest pack plugin, because some conifers had 6M polys, and that was not good for RAM even as proxy object. So for example I grouped few needles to single mesh and dristributed that mesh using forest pack. Or convert growFX flower paths as single mesh and and distribute with FP. Then RAM consumption is quite low. And here is the rest of my collection : Acer Palmatum Azalea Japonica Johanna Campanula Carpatica Campsis Radicans Clematis Euonymus Fortunei Emerald Gold Festuca Gautieri Heuchera Hosta Hydrangea Paniculata Limelight Iberis Sempervirens Ligustrum Ovalifolium Paeonia Suffruticosa Prunus Domestica Pyrus Domestica Rubus Idaeus Thymus Citriodorus Wisteria Sinensis

Hi, it has happened to me many times during workflow, when I am changing some value (mostly strength of vector direction) with left mouse button and I decided to cancel this operation with right mouse button, some parameters are set to values from earlier stages of my workflow. It is hard to reproduce. This time(video in attachment) after hit right mouse button, leaves path goes off. Another time angle bend parameter goes to its previous value, and so on. This issues can be stopped after I set value and press enter key...then everything is working as it should be...until next issue occur. I am hitting right mouse button plenty of times on spinner component... I am watching how tree shape is changing and if I am not happy I just hit RMB, so I dont need to use 3dsmax undo. It is a little bit annoying, because when it happen, I have to remember what parameters/values I set before growFX-RightMouseClick.mp4

There is also 2019.1.1 update, maybe it helps. "A viewport performance issue for scenes with many poly-meshes was discovered in the 2019.1 update release. We know that viewport performance of 3ds Max is critically important to our users, so we are happy to announce update 2019.1.1 which addresses the problem. We are grateful to our user community for pointing out the issue early, which allowed us to resolve it quickly after release."

Hi, it is possible to assign(in gui or using maxscript) different mat ID to paths when the viewport mode is set to lines? If I add edit spline modifier, all segments have mat ID 1. I need to separate bark, branches, stems, petioles. I can convert every path with right click to editable spline, set different mat ID, but when I change tree shape I need to repeat this procedure again. This feature would help me create fully parametric growfx tree(basic shape) with other tree parts using forestPack (groups of needles, leaves, fruits, flowers,..) => tiny memory footprint, fast parsing render times. Thanks

Hi, this year I started modeling plants. Some of them could by better. Only few of them was created according to a real template. For the rest I used mostly google pictures or youtube videos. Every plant took me approximately 4 hours to complete. Most time I spent studying how the plant looks Hold my fingers, I still need to create a few plants Abies Koreana Abies Lasiocarpa Compacta Amelanchier Lamarckii Buxus Sempervirens Carex Buchananii Bronze Carex Comans Amazon Mist Caryopteris Clandonensis Catalpa Bignoinoides Nana Chamaecyparis Lawsoniana Ellwoodii Coreopsis Grandiflora Early Sunrise Dianthus Caryophyllus Echinacea Purpurea Fatal Attraction Gaura Lindheimeri Compacta Grossularia Uva Crispa hedera Helix Hibiscus Syriacus Hydrangea Arborescens Hydrangea Macrophylla Lavandula Angustifolia Leucanthemum Hybridum Liquidambar Styraciflua Malus Domestica Miscanthus Sinensis Gracillimus Morus Alba Pendula Parthenocissus Tricuspidata Pennisetum Alopecuroides Philadelphus Coronarius Virginal Phlox Subulata Physocarpus Opulifolius Diabolo Pinus Mugo Humpy Prunus Avium Prunus Fruticosa Prunus Laurocerasus Etna Ribes Rosso Rudbeckia Fulgida Goldsturm Salvia Nemorosa Ostfriesland Sedum Spectabile Spiraea Japonica Golden Princess Stipa Tenuissima Thuja Occidentalis Danica Thuja Occidentalis Smaragd Thuja Orientalis Aurea Nana Vaccinium Corymbosum Weigela Florida

Random choice of objects in list in the Instanced Geometry Mesh Builder
Bzuco replied to lkedesign's topic in Suggestions
It is somehow possible to render leaves as separate instances in corona same way like in scanline/mental ray? Or it is exactly same as in vray, that all tree is converted into a single mesh and all benefits from instance are gone? Turn combine meshess off gives me a little less memory consumption, but it is still far away from proper instances. I can generate instances and then use maxscript to convert all instances into forestpack object ...to increase viewport performance, but when I need to change tree shape, then I need to repeat this procedure again which is not practical and also generating takes some time. -
...also right click and select clear on GorwFX Multimap - Input Map doesn not refresh map slot. max 2018.4

Hi, if I am using "Go Forward to Sibling" button in Corona MultiMap, GrowFX MultiMap does not refresh map slots. Video in attachment. Bzuco GrowFXmultiMap.mp4

Yes, exactly. It would be easy fix. -
Max crash - two presets - same point helper name
Bzuco replied to Bzuco's topic in For technical questions
Hi, Is it possible automatically add some prefix(e.g. gFX object name) to point name? "HederaHelix_Point001" Thanks. -
Shape modifier crashes / GrowFX 1.9.9 (Service pack 6)
Bzuco replied to Geddart's topic in For technical questions
I can confirm this, but it is crashing only if you are in create panel. If you go to modify panel right after you create gFX icon, shape modifier works without crashing. GrowFXcrash.mp4 -
Reset Xform on your object "Fan_Palm_stalk003", because dimmensions doesnt match. Then this: You can also slightly move pivot point to fine tune position.

After converting it to mesh add edit normals modifier to see if all normals along that sharp edges are unified. If yes, then it is something like shadow terminator bug (corona renderer). What renderer are you using?

Upgrade Policy And Multithreading

I am also node based editors fan, but not allways, and I know why. If the software was developed from the beginning as node based, then users simply accept that fact. I remember, many students were not satisfied when autodesk decided to set slate material editor as default or caddy controls in editable poly. I hope that node GUI will be well designed and it will not take much space on screen (one monitor setup). I personally like current multi narrow window layout and its workaround. There is also enough space to see whole plant . My little wish is put as many as possible features to gFX before 2.0 . When it comes to that, I fully accept nodes...I hope that it does not slow down basic workflow. I was curious... did she all the plants from her passion or what if she is working for exlevel...now it is clear .
