	I've opened an old scene to that utilized a GrowFX 2 node using a Point Distributor. When I last opened it a few years ago, each of the plants spawned by the GrowFX_Point nodes had variation. But now, every instance is identical and if I edit any parameters, all update identically with no variation. Is this a problem with updating a scene that needs some property set now or is this a defect?

<p>
	It seems the Spline Dir node is no longer working for me on Max 2023.

<p>
	Even with a clean new file, and new gfx object, max crashes as soon as the picker button is pressed. i've included a max file below.

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Ive also noticed other problems with the picker in 2.2. For example when picking instanced meshes, I get an error when picking from the Scene Explorer, and it only works when picking from the viewports.

	I found that whether using "Vector direction" or "Vector orientation", "Global vector" does not use the world coordinates of 3dsmax, but uses the local coordinates of "Distributor". <br />
	<br />
	When I used the "Point distributor" to place the initial growth positions of multiple branches on the 3d scanned tree trunk, I wanted the created child to bend in the Z direction of the 3dsmax world coordinate, and I had to use "Another global vector". And manually specify a global vector for each modifier, which will make the node panel very complicated.

<p>
	I’ve been experimenting with the new Space Colonization nodes. Great new tool.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	One thing I’m running into is that the distribution seems to reseed very easily. Almost any modification to another node in the graph appears to change the result, even when the Space Colonization settings themselves are unchanged.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	Is there a way to lock or stabilize the seed so the distribution remains consistent while editing other parts of the graph? Or am I missing an existing stable seed option somewhere?
</p>

<p>

<p>
	Thanks in advance.

<p>
	<span>We're trying to alter/set the curve graphs in the after mesh modifiers. It would be great if we could set a curve going from the bottom left to the top right with a nice smooth curve under the centre axis line, so the movement is more obvious towards the ends of the branches. Is this possible via maxscript and if so if would be most appreciated if you can provide any examples. </span>

<p>

<p>
	It would also be great to be able to alter the scale factor too in the bottom left corner of the attached dialogue.

<p>
	This would be for both v1.9.9 and v2, but maybe it's the same for both?

	Hi, we are trying to find a way via maxscript to grab all of the Public nodes dependency object names and put them into an array, but have had not luck so far. In basic terms Maxtree sometimes has extra bits such as leaves, sheath's etc and we are looking for a function to grab all of the objects that are dependant.

	If possible and if they are different, this would be great to know how to do both in V2 and V1.9.9 if there are differing ways which I'm sure there are.

	Hi there

<p>
	I'm making transition into GFX2.0, a bit late but I was too used to the ver1<br />
	There is a question I want to ask that is it possible to instancing a modifier node for multiple GFX objects?<br />
	In ver1 I can do this by copy and paste instance the modifier from one to others GFX objects.<br />
	This help fine tune the modifier for multiple object which have the same attribute<br />
	In my most used case is wind modifier where I can change parameter for one 1 GFX object and the other GFX objects get the changes too

	Hi Eduard,<br />
	I found some issue that breaks Pivot Painter workflow for certain models, and this is because how GrowFX handles pivots conversion.
</p>

<p>
	Pivot painter script calculates X Vector (8bit) into texture<br />
	Having X pivot not really pointed along the actual geometry causing some vertices not to be taken into account while calculating wind animation in UE<br />
	Quick example:
</p>

<p>
	if we bend/distort too much with modifiers (pic 1) after certain degree<br />
	pivots kinda getting lost an actual direction (kinda based of just first segment of the path)
</p>

<p>
	<br />
	<img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="2296" data-ratio="62.22" width="900" alt="X_VECTOR_02.jpg.e8a443f47758334c288577df2c984e7a.jpg" data-src="https://exlevel.com/forum/uploads/monthly_2025_01/X_VECTOR_02.jpg.e8a443f47758334c288577df2c984e7a.jpg" src="https://exlevel.com/forum/applications/core/interface/js/spacer.png" />
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	what we really need for PP working properly is an actual model orientation AFTER the modified stage
</p>

<p>
	how complex would be to calculate these 'in house' on hierarchy creation ?<br />
	as I dont know a proper script that does it all as a post process (normally results are really off with ton of manual labor)<br />

</p>

	Hi,
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I am trying to animate a fairly complicated tree growth and i have some questions about the value node.<br />
	I understand the use for float and integer values but what do Universe and time values do ? I can't find anything in the help or online.<br />

</p>

<p>
	I would like to animate my tree with a single parameter (age) going from 0 to 100%. It would be nice to have some clamp and curve fonctions so that a single value node can be used to give different numbers to other nodes. For exemple, the trunk would only grom from 0% to 80% of the original value node (thanks to a remap done with a curve) and the main braches would go from 10% to 100% all while only animating the first value node.
</p>

<p>
	I know some of this is already possible with the Affect node but i would like something that doen't need a parameter input to work properly.
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	I have used growfx on a few projects now but i am far from being a pro so maybe all this is already possible.<br />
	<br />
	Thanks for your time

	<font>Why can't Growfx be upgraded to a fur plugin? In my opinion, Growfx already has 90% of the functionality of fur plugins and will be the only node style fur plugin in 3dmax</font>

	Hello, my monitor size is 43 inches, 3840x2160 resolution. I usually use Maxto to divide the desktop into four parts, so I can have more operating space<br />
	The problem I am currently facing is that when I create growfx2.0, as long as I select other geometry, the growfx2.0 interface will disappear. It will only appear after being re selected. Is there any way to keep growfx from disappearing
</p>

	Hi, I extremely new to Growfx and I'm having some difficulty understanding how to open a max file that has growfx trees. I downloaded a max file to try and get a sense of what the nodes do before building my own however there is an issue. When I open the max file, the growfx bar appears and says building paths. Everything seems to load fine as I can see the tree. But for some reason when I open the node editor there are no nodes and I cant figure out where im supposed to edit the tree. Am I missing something? I cant seem to find anything on how to open and use max files that contain trees.

	Hello,
</p>

<p>
	When I use cylinder geometry, coloring along path vertex paint works (screenshot 1), but when I switch to instanced geometry it doesn't (screenshot 2).
</p>

<p>
	I'm using GrowFX 2.0.0 and 3ds max 2019.<br />
	How can I fix this?

	hi
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
	since there's no answer on my last post yet, i still tried to get stuff done on my side..
</p>

<p>
	but i cannot get stuff done because growfx keeps crashing, probably because i have a metamesh, but when i trie to reduce the metamesh polycount grow fx crashes..
</p>

<p>
	grow fx crashes also when i type-in values...
</p>

<p>
	should i get a speedtree license instead? to bad because i like to work in 3dsmax..
</p>

<p>
	or is there some psalm i should sing to keep it from crashing?
</p>

<p>

</p>

<p>
